• Cizzle Biotech Strengthens IP Portfolio with Allowance of U.S. Patent Application

  York, 25 June 2010 – Cizzle Biotech is pleased to announce the allowance of United States patent application 10/537,228, titled ‘Replication Protein’, by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The allowed claims broadly cover methods of diagnosing cancer by detecting the presence or expression of the Ciz1 gene. Dependent claims cover kits and methods of diagnosing specific cancers including lung cancer.

  The allowed patent application is based on the research of the Company’s CSO, Dawn Coverley, PhD. The patent is solely owned by Cizzle. “The patent allowance highlights Cizzle’s position as the foremost leader on Ciz1 and strengthens the Company’s intellectual property portfolio,” said John Lucas, Ph.D., J.D., Chief Executive Officer of Cizzle Biotech.

  York, 14 June 2010 – Cizzle Biotech is very pleased to announce that it has strengthened its core management team by appointing John Lucas as CEO as the Company continues to develop its current Ciz1 related programs and seeks new business partnerships.
  
  John Lucas holds a law degree from George Washington University, USA, a PhD in molecular genetics from Ohio State University, USA, and a MS degree in microbiology from Ohio University, USA.
  
  John has extensive international experience having worked in senior positions in the biotech industry in both Europe and USA based companies. Most recently, he was General Counsel and Vice President of Intellectual Property at Silence Therapeutics, plc in London, UK. At Silence he was responsible for a wide range of legal and business matters and played a key role in the Company’s corporate transaction with Intradigm Corporation. Prior to Silence, he held senior positions at Metabasis Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company in La Jolla, California, Transform Pharmaceuticals of Lexington Massachusetts, a company specializing in small molecule drug form and formulation, and at Genset, of Paris, France and San Diego, California.
