About usCizzle Biotechnology Ltd is a spin-out company from the University of York, established in 2005 with support from the Bioscience Yorkshire Enterprise Fellowship program and funding from Yorkshire Forward. Cizzle has two scientific founders, Dr Dawn Coverley and Dr Justin Ainscough, and the specific aim of developing and exploiting intellectual property related to the Ciz1 gene. In 2006, CZL attracted seed-corn financing from the White Rose Technology Seedcorn Fund (WRTSCF) to support research and development activities relating to the Ciz1 gene and its splice variants, as part of a combined drug target/biomarker validation project. Cizzle is now focused on the development of novel Ciz1-targeted therapeutic products and related diagnostics for lung cancer, and has generated lung cancer specific lead molecules and related candidate diagnostics. Business development and expansion of research and development activities are ongoing following further investment in early 2008 by WRTSCF and additional investment by The Viking Fund and Yorkshire Cancer Research. |
